Das Elternhaus prägt entscheidend. Dieses ermutigende Beispiel fand ich beim Lesen der neuen Biografie von Herman Bavinck (1854-1921). Gleason schreibt von dessen Elternhaus:
Almost austere in their mode of life, exhibiting something of what the Gemrnas call Kulturfeindlichkeit, pious to the core, teaching their children more by example than by precept.
Ich bin ein Vielredner. So sage ich manche Dinge, die ich gar nicht einlöse. Weiter:
The Bavinck family understood that Christians can make good use oft he culture, but at the same time there was a definite need for an antithetical posture over against culture.
Das möchte ich auch: Die eigene Marke schaffen. Statt Weltverschwörungstheorien und Düsterkeit verbreiten konkrete Alternativen entwickeln und leben. Weiter:
Moreover, the spiritual development of his father and mother wold play a key role in the spiritual life of their son.
Dafür bete ich täglich – dass mein eigenes geistliches Leben eine Schlüsselrolle im Leben meiner Söhne spielen darf.
